SUBJECT: February 2021 PTSA Newsletter

February 1, 2020

2020-21 School Year - Volume 15, Issue 6

We are officially halfway through the school year! Let’s take a moment to recognize all the hard work everyone is putting in on this challenging year. Thank You to…

  • Our teachers and school staff for bringing your energy and enthusiasm to educating our students each day.
  • The BASC staff providing childcare and remote learning assistance to students in their program.
  • The parents and caregivers in our students lives who support them in remote learning.
  • Our students for your resiliency and flexibility.
  • Our volunteers who continue to make PTSA programs happen.

And a huge thank you to all our community front-line workers who are keeping our necessary daily services and supports going during this time.

Two more quick things: If there's a book your family loves that is from a minority author or features diverse characters, we'd love you to share the title with us here. And stay tuned for lots of fun SCIENCE programming coming in March!

Have you sent your postcard?

Our postcard project aims to show how connected Grizzlies are to the world. Can we get a postcard from every state in the US? How many different countries will we receive postcards from? Use social media, email, and letters to request postcards from other people. Students were issued one postcard, but your requests to family and friends can be endless!

Reflections Art Program Results

Grand Ridge students sent many wonderful art projects to the district finals for the Reflections Art Program and we had three students make it to the state finals along with an additional two students receive honorable mentions.

Congratulations to state finalists Linn De Booij, Aditi Kumar, and Chuan Li, and to Anika Iyer and Jade Soukhavong on their honorable mentions.

PTSA Awards: Open for Nominations!

The Grand Ridge PTSA recognizes volunteers, educators and community members who go above and beyond for the sake of our kids through the Golden Acorn, Outstanding Educator, and Outstanding Advocate awards for the previous calendar year (Jan-Dec 2020). It only takes a minute to nominate someone! Learn more and submit your nominations by Feb 24, 2021.

Spelling Bee Time

The annual Grand Ridge spelling bee returns (virtually) in March. If your student is interested in showing off their spelling skills in a grade-level bee, visit our website to fill out an interest form by February 21 for each student in your family that wishes to participate.

Be in the 2020-21 Yearbook!

Upload photos for this year's yearbook and order one for your student on our yearbook page! Orders are due April 16. If the cost is prohibitive for your family, please email about yearbook scholarships to GrandRidgeResources@gmail.com..

An update on school portrait pictures will be shared soon.

**Please note: This form is presented as an option for each student on your account. If you fill out the form once to purchase a yearbook for each student listed, you will still see an open form for your other students. We are looking in to this. If you are uncertain if you have purchased a yearbook, go to My Account --> Previous Orders --> locate your orders and click on the order ID to verify what was included in that order.**

PTSA Board Members Needed

We are beginning to plan for next year’s PTSA Board of Directors and would love to have new parents and caregivers passionate about this school community join the board. Curious? Send Kainoa a quick note at grptsavolunteers@gmail.com and we’ll answer any questions!

Virtual Talent Show

Thank you to all those who have submitted performances for our virtual talent show. We are working on compiling them to share later this month. More information will be sent once these are posted.
