Grand Ridge Cultural Club is Back!

2026-2027

Grand Ridge Cultural Club is an optional recess program that brings in parent volunteers to share

their cultural heritage and customs with hands-on activities, games and crafts from a specific

country or culture

This year students will have the opportunity to "visit" another country during our rainier months! This is a fun way for kids to get to

know different areas of the world

We are looking for country "hosts" to sign-up to lead on a Thursday for three 20-minute recess sessions (11:30 am - 12:40 pm). Additionally, we also need volunteers to help the country hosts with the activities so that more kids can participate.

Hosts will be reimbursed for the materials purchased for the chosen activity. More information will be provided by the Cultural Club chairs.

We would like to fill all these free weeks at the earliest convenience possible so we will greatly appreciate it if you can participate in the program. It’s one of the kids’ favorite times at Grand Ridge!

Learn more and sign up now to host your own country and celebrate your culture, or volunteer to be a Host’s helper.

Contact co-chair Su Park (suhalee81@gmail.com) and Akhila Golipalli (akhila.chamakura@gmail.com) if you have any questions.

Examples from past Cultural Club days:

• Practice how to use chopsticks, learn how to write your name in Korean, and check out the interesting facts about Korea on posters
• Learning about Vietnamese currency and how to make a fish out of palm leaves
• Making origami when Cultural Club visited Japan
• Looking at photos from Sweden, listening to ABBA, and making a Swedish springtime craft
