SUBJECT: October 2022 PTSA Newsletter

October 3, 2022
2022-23 School Year - Volume 17, Issue 2

It may still feel like summer, but the pumpkins, falling leaves, and planning for fun school events like Falloween tell us it really is October! And our art docents are getting ready to roll-out fall-themed art lessons to all Grand Ridge classrooms - if you want to get involved with art, email Tara or Kathryn

Thanks to the parents who attended our first PTSA general meeting of the year. Great discussion and ideas were shared, members approved the PTSA mission & goals, and Principal Ravenscraft shared highlights and answered questions. If you have questions or input on future topics, please reach out.

Falloween Dance Party October 26!

Save the Date! We will be hosting a Falloween celebration with a DJ spinning tunes from 5:30-7:30pm on Wednesday, October 26 in the Multi-Purpose Room at Grand Ridge. Costumes are encouraged, but not required. More details coming soon to come and signing up for a volunteer shift is always appreciated so we can make it a great party for our whole community!

Reflections Art Program

Students from all grades are invited to participate in the Reflections Art Program. There are so many ways they can express their creative talents on the theme "Show Your Voice".

We will celebrate all Grand Ridge participants at a reception in November and the top artworks will move on to the District competition. Learn more on our Reflections Art Program page.

Donate to Gift-A-Book by October 28

GIFT-A-BOOK expands our school’s library with new and exciting high-quality materials and promotes reading among our students. This helps foster a love of reading with your own student and benefits the Grand Ridge community for years to come. Learn more about the program and how to donate here!

Volunteer Corner

Our volunteers help bring great programs and events to life! Find current volunteer sign-ups here

Make sure your Issaquah School District Volunteer Application is approved so you can volunteer on campus (like upcoming Parent Playground events).

Workroom Training for Volunteers is offered on October 13 at 9:30am & 6pm in the downstairs workroom. It's especially useful for room parents & active classroom volunteers.

And we are searching for volunteers to lead Popcorn Fridays (monthly), coordinate Cultural Club, help the librarian with Gift-a-Book, and help plan a Talent Show. Contact grptsavolunteers@gmail.com if interested in learning more.

Cultural Club at Recess!

Cultural Club is an optional recess program that brings in parent volunteers to share their cultural heritage and customs with hands-on activities, games and crafts from a specific country or culture. This program was started at Grand Ridge in 2012 and we would love to have it start again in November! For more information and to sign-up to represent a country for one day at recess, click here.

Coming soon: Math Challenge

We're almost ready to launch Math Challenge - a free, virtual enrichment program for any Grand Ridge student from kindergarten to 5th grade. Every two weeks a new challenge will be available to engage and challenge students to solve interesting math problems. More details available on our website soon.
