SUBJECT: April 2022 PTSA Newsletter

April 1, 2022
2021-22 School Year - Volume 16, Issue 8

We have entered the last third of the school year. It's hard to believe that we've already begun planning for next year! For those of you looking ahead, we will be offering school supply orders again for next school year. Please look for more information on this in May or June.

If you are interested in becoming a more active volunteer next year, please consider a board or even a co-chair role for one of our events! Email grptsa@gmail.com if you are interested in learning more about the many ways to get involved.

The last thing we wanted to share is about the PTSA membership drive we had in Februray. In mid-March, Ms. Stettler Schug's classroom claimed their prize and did a wonderful job covering Mr. Aguilar in silly string! Thank you to all families who participated by becoming PTSA members, and to Mr. Aguilar for being such a great sport!

2022 Levy - Ballots due April 26

The School Board approved (3) renewal levy packages which will go before voters April 26, 2022.  These are renewal levies and will replace the current levies which expire December 31, 2022.  The EP&O and Capital Levies are 4 year levies and will fund programs and critical repairs through December 31, 2026. The Transportation Levy (Bus Levy) is a 1 year levy and will not need to be renewed until 2027.

Like a subscription, levies must be renewed or the funding will be lost.

Visit www.visvote.org for more information or Click here for details of what each renewal levy funds

Ballots arrive in mailboxes on April 8 and are due April 26.

Staff Appreciation

Thank you to all who donated earlier this year to provide snacks for staff. We have transitioned to providing monthly appreciation events, hosted by grade levels. Thank you to the grade level families who so generously donated their time and money towards fun events for our staff!

Staff Appreciation Week is the first week of May. If you would like to help with planning for that week, please email grptsa@gmail.com.

Student Art Project - Paper Quilt Collaboration

The Grand Ridge Paper Quilt Collaboration project has made its way back to the school and is now hanging across from the kiln room on the first floor. Over 600 paper quilt squares are brightening the hallway. Encourage your kids to stop by and see how much more beautiful each small piece becomes when it’s working together with others.

THANK YOU to everyone who had a hand in making this happen!

Issaquah Special Education PTSA

The Issaquah Special Education PTSA is being formed to support students, families, and educators across the Issaquah School District. We plan to offer district-wide parent training, resource-sharing, education, and support to families whose students are served in the special education programs, have 504 accommodation plans, or who have a suspected disability. Our group will provide strong advocacy, timely communication about important issues, and fun community-building opportunities.

ParentWiser Presents: Developing Independent Decision Makers

Is your student making independent, informed choices? Improving conversations can help because they are the building blocks within a family to share ideas, sharpen our edges, build trust, problem-solve, gather information, argue our point, and share our stories.  Learn strategies to strengthen communication and develop and fine-tune your child’s decision-making skills.
